Durr completed work on a $3M governmental infrastructure job for the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority–West (SLFPA-W). This project involved raising the existing 2.63 mile earthen levee in Avondale, LA between US Highway 90 and the Lake Cataouatche Pump Station. Durr hauled and placed over 90,000 CY of compacted embankment fill lifting the levee to the design elevation. Work also included clearing & grubbing, degrading of the existing levee, fertilizing, and seeding on the approximately 28-acre area.
This section of levee, referred to as WBV-18.2 by the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) in the West Bank and Vicinity Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction System (HSDRR), provides hurricane protection for 100-year storm surge events.
