Durr was the civil contractor chosen for the L’Auberge casino. At the beginning of the project, because the project was under a tight deadline and included numerous simultaneous activities, Durr spearheaded a partnering session with the General Contractor, engineering team and other subcontractors to ensure all participants had a clear understanding of the logistics and timeline.
Even with extensive planning, however, unforeseen problems can arise. The Mississippi River elevations reached record levels twice during this project, preventing all underground work and all work along the levee for months at a time. Durr worked closely with the Army Corps of Engineers, Pontchartrain Levee District to implement special precautions to prevent potential levee failures that could have devastated the project, as well as the Baton Rouge area.
