HISTORY
Durr Heavy Construction, LLC is a family-owned and operated construction company specializing in demolition, site preparation and underground utility installation. Established in 1955, E.C. Durr Contractor began when Edward C. Durr, Sr. bought a single tractor and began filling residential lots for additional income to supplement his dairy business. He eventually closed his dairy farm, and for 20 years thereafter, Mr. Durr expanded his construction company by filling a large majority of the residential lots on the East Bank of Jefferson Parish. In 1976, the company was purchased and incorporated by Mr. Durr's daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Steve Stumpf.

Under the guidance of its second generation, E.C. Durr Heavy Equipment, Inc. evolved from a "Mom & Pop" business into a structured, professionally managed company. Durr shifted its primary focus to commercial projects, and over a relatively short period of time, grew its revenues from $500,000 to over $15 million. This substantial improvement in volume, management and performance has made Durr one of the leading demolition/site preparation firms in the state of Louisiana and in the Gulf South Region.
In 2000, the company changed its name to Durr 
Heavy Construction, LLC, emphasizing its main focus as a construction contractor; yet, heavy equipment still exists in the form of a multimillion-dollar fleet of dump trucks and heavy machinery. Durr's offices have also changed. Although still located on the same original site of Mr. Durr's dairy farm in Harahan, LA, the administrative office at 817 Hickory Avenue has seen several additions over the past few years, as well as the addition of an operations headquarters on the Mississippi River Batture. In 2007 a satellite office was opened in Covington, LA to handle North Shore projects.
Durr Heavy Construction is a licensed contractor in the states of both Louisiana and Mississippi. The company has earned numerous honors and awards for its work in regards to performance, safety and personnel. Durr also values the extensive list of clients that it has earned and has been able to work with over the years. Presently, the company is welcoming the third generation into the family business and it is proud of the fact that its growth and its success has not changed the fundamental principles that Edward Durr instilled in his company 50 years ago.
